It will be very helpfull to know what problem did you have with plugin activation. Any error messages? Possibly you have not enough privileges with your MySQL database. If you achieved the success please let know about it. It is interesting to me and can be useful for other potential plugin users.

I don’t see as browser send AJAX request after thanks button click. AJAX request returns empty string as the result immediately. That’s strange. It seems that we have some JQuery usage conflict here.
I see that your blog theme uses many JQuery plugins or extensions. Is this theme available for download somewhere in order I can try it in my test environment with TYCB plugin together?

  • barbarosa

sorry i buy this theme. Not free.:(

  • http://shinephp.com Vladimir Garagulya

I understood. If you left thanks button on this page only for some time (turn off auto-insertion of thanks button and insert [thankyou] shourtcode to this post) I will try to isolate the problem with data I can see already. It could take a few days though…

  • barbarosa

    ok.i did manualy.

and i put the this article.you can see.but its not working again

In your case browser sends ‘OPTIONS’ requests when you click ‘thanks’ button, but it should be ‘POST’ request. This way FireFox prevents cross-domain attacks. You can see this thread for more details
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1099787/jquery-ajax-post-sending-options-as-requestmethod-in-firefox/
I’m sorry but it seems that TYCB plugin will not work under your site environment.

hello Vladimir, first of all, great plugin!
is it possible to place thanks buttons directly into my theme (I’m interested to place it in post’s metabox or date box)?

some shortcode like would help a lot.

    спасибо!

  • http://shinephp.com Vladimir Garagulya

Yes, It is possible. You need to check “Manual” checkbox at the TYCB plugin options page and place
“echo thanks_button();” somewhere at your theme. For this time it uses post ID attribute so it is no sense to put button beyond the post or page. I plan to add a global (for all blog) counter parameter to this function to make it usable anywhere, not in posts or pages only. It will be done this weekend, possibly.

Is there a shortcode or function I can call to display the number of “thanks” on the current post. For example, I wish to put somewhere on my post: “12 people have thanked the author for this post.” What function or shortcode would I need to pull this number from the database?

  • http://shinephp.com Vladimir Garagulya

There is no shortcode for this purpose, as this value is shown on a button itself. This PHP function getThanksQuant($postId) from plugin’s staff will return you desired quant of thanks for post with ID in $postId parameter.

Hello. I Like your plugin, but in my site button doesn’t show well…my template is a “all ajax loaded”. is there a way to avoid conflict? Thank You

  • http://shinephp.com/ Vladimir Garagulya

    Hi Barbara,

Is this theme free? Please send its download link.

    Regards,
    Vladimir.

Hi, I wrote but you never answered. I installed it but is not working. You can see the button but when clicking nothing happens… could you please help me? http://jesus314.com/go-to-heaven/

  • http://shinephp.com/ Vladimir Garagulya

    Hi Melina,

TYCB plugin’s JavaScript code was not loaded for some reason at your site. Could you deactivate all other plugins and check if it will help? After that you may activate plugins back one by one to discover what plugin causes the conflict. Then I will test both together to understand/fix a reason of a problem.

  • Melina Ferszt

Thanks, I already tried that before writing to you. My first idea was a plugin was interfering but no… nothing changes ;(

  • http://shinephp.com/ Vladimir Garagulya

What will be happened in case you change active theme to 2015?

  • Melina Ferszt

Nothing changes… is there any way to add now that JavaScript code?

  • Melina Ferszt

    Hello?

  • Melina Ferszt

Hi, you never answered me and the plugin is still not working, can you please answer me and help me with this? I have to finish this web and tell my client if we need to look for a different plugin altogether…

  • http://shinephp.com/ Vladimir Garagulya

    Hi Melina,

No. It doesn’t related to the changed database prefix. You could not activate the plugin in case of any problem with database as plugin creates 2 DB tables during its activation. As I noted earlier the problem is that needed JavaScript was not loaded its normal way at your site configuration for some reason.
Try to add thankyou.js for front-end pages manually and see if that will help.

  • Melina Ferszt

I am sorry, I dont quite understand what you want me to do.. could you tell me step by step what you want me to do with thankyou.js so I can try it? Thanks!

  • http://shinephp.com/ Vladimir Garagulya

I meant you may try to include this line
    <script type=’text/javascript’ src=’your-domain/wp-content/plugins/thanks-you-counter-button/thankyou.js?ver=4.2.2′></script>
directly to the head section of the header.php file of your active theme.
    Before make that please try:
    1) deactivate temporally all plugins except “Thank You Counter Button”. Will it start to work then? If Yes, activate plugins back one by one and check what plugin is the reason of a problem. Send its download link to me. I will test both plugins together myself then.
    2) change active theme to WordPress built-in 2015. If TYCB plugin will start to work after that, a problem is in your current theme.

  • Melina Ferszt

I tried everything you dais, nothing works… I am getting really frustrated here ;(
    Take a look: http://jesus314.com/go-to-heaven/

  • http://shinephp.com/ Vladimir Garagulya

May be you use some cache plugin or Content Delivery Network – try to clear the local and remote cache.

A final measure (include plugin JavaScript to the header directly). I checked your link. I do not see thankyou.js included into the page. Plugin can not work without it.

  • Melina Ferszt

Hi, I dont use any cache plugin nor content delivery network… Have no idea how to include javascript to the header directly either…

I am using the theme Virtue (free theme) and the header.php is only this:

    <?php

    /*

    Empty on purpose

    */

I am guessing its because they have a lot of custom things on theme options…
I need to make this work but dont have much more time ;( My client is going crazy…

  • http://shinephp.com/ Vladimir Garagulya

    Hi,

I tested TYCB plugin with Virtue theme successfully at my test environment.
OK. It’s specific for your theme. File is
    wp-content/themes/virtue/templates/head.php
    instead of header.php

If it’s applicable I may look on your site settings on-line, send admin login credentials to vladimir [at-sign] shinephp.com

To insert this code in PHP thema only place I ? you have to add some function in function.php ? as well as it throws me an internal error. How I can make use of this function. I need this getThanksQuant($postId)
